A Guide To Country Music
Do you ever go through "phases"? I think I do with almost everything. Movies (horror, comedy, thriller, action...), music (instrumental, folk, jazz, classic rock...), clothes (button downs, rolled-up jeans, glasses, layering...), books (inspirational, chick lit, non-fiction, biography...) ... basically everything in my life comes and goes. Right now I'm in a documentary phase, a layering phase, an inspirational phase, and, believe it or not...a country music phase.
Weird, huh? I haven't listened to country since I figured out that I could control what music I listened to (about 5th grade). But I feel like there's so much good country music out right now! Here are a couple of my favorites that you'll probably hear on the radio, just in case you're interested in doing the boots-wearin', whiskey-drinkin', field-plowin', southern twang thang.

Even If It Breaks Your Heart - Eli Young Band
Home - Dierks Bentley
All Your Life - The Band Perry
Ours - Taylor Swift
When I'm Not Looking - Blake Shelton
(PS - LOVE him on The Voice...he's so presh)
(I can't believe I just admitted I watch The Voice......)
A Woman Like You - Lee Brice
Chicken Fried - Zac Brown Band
Good Night For Dancing - Josh Abbott Band
Somethin' 'Bout A Truck - Kip Moore
So You Don't Have To Love Me - Alan Jackson
Waitin' On A Woman - Brad Paisley
I still think old school country is where it's at...you just can't beat Merle and Willie and Hank, especially not with much that's played on the radio now. But there's still some good listening out there! So good luck venturing into the country world, if you think you're up to it. You'll have to deal with (expletive deleted) like Toby Keith's "Red Solo Cup", but usually it's worth it.

A Little Bit of Advice for Your Saturday
Hope you're all having a good weekend thus far! Here in Lubbock it is rainy and overcast and cool, bordering on chilly when the sun goes down; AKA perfect weather for staying inside, watching lots of TV (Rex just got cable, it's the first time either of us have had it in over two years!), doing some homework, crafting, and being l a z y y y y.
Also, just in case you're curious, I'm working on my first piece of art that I think could fall into the category of "graphic design"... I'll let y'all know how it goes, because I know you're just on the edge of your seats!!

Ink
I'm currently planning out my next tattoo, so I've gotten re-obsessed with finding pretty tattoos that I love. What are your thoughts about tattoos, friends? I know my dear friend Madi will appreciate this post in particular, because she is a HUGE fan of tattoos....tee hee.
I think that some ladies can pull off the heavily tatted look really well...
And then sometimes I just love the delicate and simple tattoos...
I think the font on that last one is just beautiful.
And of course, I just adore my own ink more and more every day...
Even when it's difficult to cover up for teaching, or when my dad clucks his tongue at me, or when I go through an entire interaction with the grocery clerk without him ever making eye contact, I never regret it.
What are your thoughts on tattoos, friends? Just out of curiosity. Do you have any? Want any? Are you against them? Will my tats put me in hell? (I have gotten that before, believe it or not!) Do you think they're foolish? Courageous? Scandalous? Let me know how you feel!

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese,
harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

Very Pinteresting
Please tell me, what have I been doing my whole life that I just found Pinterest? Just today, I discovered zucchini noodles and a garden that grows vertically, learned how to tie a celtic heart knot and knit my own coffee cup sleeves, drooled over a beautiful floral wedding cake and too many summer-y outfits, and found inspiration for at least four new craft ideas. Here are a few of my favorite new discoveries.
So if you have nothing to do, go lose yourself in the combined effect of the internet and shared interests. And then get up and make something!
Happy crafting!
