Sweet 16th

Happiest of happy birthdays to my most precious little sister! Absolutely cannot believe you're turning 16 today! You are just a little gem of a girl and I can't wait to see what a wonderful woman you are going to be.

Also, don't kill me for that. I really just can't resist.

So proud of you for being such a strong, smart, hard-working, kind-hearted, altogether BEAUTIFUL person.

The Stankest Stank.

Alright y'all. Right now, our kitchen is out of commish because our garbage disposal clogged up the pipes and sent dirty nasty stank water back into the dishwasher. (Yes, this has happened before.) And for some reason, even though the issue was put through to a plumber on Monday, a plumber has yet to be seen. And y'all, this kitchen is RANK. Like, nothing we can do about it - even the sink smells bad - make you wanna cry stink. So to take my mind off that, I'm reliving Colorado pictures and listening to this.

Lookin' on the bright side, right? Or is it denial?

Cousin Weekend

Last weekend, Rex and I met up with a gaggle of cousins in Dallas to spend the weekend bonding with our much-loved family!

Now, I love my family. Growing up, Taylor and I had Kelsey and Kaila as a second pair of sisters that we could spend time with when we got tired of yelling at each other (just kidding....but really). But now, any time we try and get together, a giant debacle usually ensues. Like Saturday morning, we couldn't find a FedEx that could print out our tickets to the game, so we had to drive to Kelsey's boyfriend's parents' house to print them.

Since we successfully made it to the game, it ended up just being funny. But from the hours of 11 AM - 1:30 PM on Saturday, we were all just about at the end of our collective ropes.

It was so nice to get to see everyone. Kelsey and Kaila are both in Dallas, Karmen and Taylor are in Tyler, and I, obviously, am in Lubbock, so we don't get to see each other as often as we used to. But it is just such a blessing to have such a wonderful family.

I am the luckiest.

Okay.

I'll be honest, blogging hasn't really been my number one priority lately. Finishing up the spring semester, starting summer classes, finishing my school year job, starting my summer job, preparing for our summer camping trip, moving out of my old house, moving into my new house, trying to get my computer fixed, and trying to get a decent amount of sleep has really taken precedence lately. And, let's be real, getting up to date on How I Met Your Mother has been pretty important too. But, here's a little bit of what's happened since we last talked.

We tried our hand at fly fishing some Lubbock lakes... not too successful, I'm sure you're surprised to hear. But we got to throw using the flies we had tied! That was really cute.

Meet the wooly bugger.

Annnnddd.....Rex graduated from South Plains!! Yay! He'll be at Tech in the fall in the Business program and I'm super excited and proud of him!

For my mom's birthday, we got her tickets to see Dave Matthews Band in Dallas, so we got to do that last weekend! It was a lot of fun, and of course we didn't get a group picture, but it was great to spend time with the family and hear good music.

Otherwise, we've been working and trying to do normal life things...the usual! I hope you're having a good Memorial Day weekend! Be safe and happy and healthy!

Tired Little Pups

One of my favorite things in the world is when the dogs are out and about in the house, running around and causing commotion - and then suddenly I hear a solid flump that means that Murphy's just dropped to the floor, and a heavy, I'm-exhausted-from-all-of-that-playing *sigh* ... it's just so ... I don't know, family-like I guess. Precious and silly and happy.

Scaredy Cat

How funny are these pictures from our visit to Tyler last week?
Rex thinks it's so funny to surprise me by hoisting me up onto his shoulders.....and I usually respond by having a panic attack. I love the third one from the top where I'm looking very overwhelmed, and Rex just has the biggest grin.

Anyway, happy Thursday y'all! It's almost Friday...rejoice!

Spring Break-agram

I just love using my mom's phone to Instagram pictures when we're back home.
Here are a few from the Spring Break visit, including our very successful fishing trip...

Our trip out to my aunt & uncle's new land...

And some cousin reunion time in Oklahoma!

Kaila, on the left, is living in Dallas and working at the House of Blues. Kelsey, between Taylor and me, just moved to the Dallas area to start working at Baylor Medical in Waxahachie! And Taylor is still kicking tail on Varsity soccer at Lee. Aren't they gorgeous?

46!

And by 46, of course I mean 35.

The happiest of happy birthdays to my Momma!!! We wish we could be spending the day with her, of course, but we are celebrating in spirit! (Watching silly TV shows, eating Mexican food and ice cream, and falling asleep in the middle of said TV shows. Like a true Worden!) Bear and Murph miss their "grandma" already.

We had a blast spending the week in Tyler and really cherish getting to spend time with the family (photos of which will be posted soon!) PS- Did I mention Momma W is a baller at clay shooting? Another reason for her to have a great b-day! :)

You Know What I Really Like?

...the abbreviation "vom" for the word "vomit"... Is that weird? It makes such an awful word sound choppy and cute.

Also,
- A good pair of men's trousers
- The word "trousers"
- Greek yogurt
- "Treat Yo Self" days
- Stand up comedy
- Rex's new Yildiz
- When you can leave the doors open and not be afraid of a dust storm blowing through the house
- A potted orchid that makes our living room look so classy
- Teaching
- Planning trips that may or may not really happen
- Rock-climbing
- Specifically, bouldering

February 20, 2009 - 2011

Two years ago...

One year ago...

And now!

Happy anniversary to the best friend, companion, confidant, joke-teller, in-the-car-singer, hamburger-griller, backyard-baseball-player, cheerer-upper I could ever ask for! And here's to many more.

Happy Valentinesiversary*

*(Valentines + anniversary)

So, our real anniversary is on the 20th...but yesterday was when our gifts were ready and so yesterday is when we exchanged them. We're children at heart when it comes to gifts. I think Christmas is the only time we make sure they're saved for the actual date.

Anyway, since Valentine's and our anniversary are a week apart, we decided to just do one nice gift, and something little for V-Day (which I received three days ago...whoopsies). So gift exchange yesterday was pretty epic. See below...

Pretty bad ass, right? Can you believe this crazy guy?

Just for clarification, I got him a fly-tying vise, tools, and materials...and he got me a Browning 12 gauge. Now we just need to move out to a cabin in Maine and start catching/shooting our dinner. But really...it's pretty cool. And even cooler than last year (to see last year's gifts see here and here).

Isn't it beautiful? I just love that engraving. I know I'm OB-sessed...but I think it's just so pretty. And I love that picture of Rex tying his first fly on the new vise. We're basically just thrilled with each other over anniversary gifts this year.

:)

Plans for a Tuesday

This morning, I am snuggling up with little Bear and watching lots of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix. And for lunch, I'll go to my favorite cafe with my favorite guy to get a coffee and chicken salad sandwich.

I am taking full advantage of still not having class yet. Heck, it's 9 AM and I haven't even put in my contacts yet.

Hope you're having a good Tuesday! Happy (late) MLK day!

Happy 2012 Y'all!

We spent five nights in Destin, Florida and a night in New Orleans to start the new year. What better way, right? It was great. We went deep sea fishing, and got to eat the best seafood EVER. And drove. So much driving! We got massages (Rex's Christmas gift to me!), listened to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo on audiobook (Rex's new favorite thing), splashed around in the ocean (only for a little bit - the water was cooold!). And we spent a night on Bourbon Street on our way back to top it all off.

Have you ever been to Bourbon Street? It is an experience, let me tell you. And we were there on the night of a home Saints playoff game, and two days before the BCS Championship game. What were we thinking?? Haha. But it certainly was a good time.

I hope you started off your 2012 as wonderfully as we did! I can't even say how glad I am that a new year is here and off to a happy start. 2011 was a tough one. It had it's ups and downs to be sure, but the downs were pretty weighty. I'm so happy that a new year is here, and I truly feel like 2012 will bring great things!

All the best for 2012!
